Thirteen year-old Sharkey and his people are "Sunkers", they are submarine dwellers who try to avoid the "ghosts", people who hunt and destroy all who use machines. When the last remaining Sunker mothership is destroyed, Sharkey must prove himself a true hero to help his people.
